I like Neighbourhood Statistics (which I have just found listed above - ARGGH!) which lists all sorts of (?useless) details from the census, and graphs them against your local area and nationally. How many people in your area have "good health" and how many are married?MSE_Martin wrote:What did the other houses in your street sell for? Nethouseprices
Just had a quick look here and was very disappointed. I live out in the sticks in a group of 5 houses all converted at the same time around 2000, together with about 5 other, older houses, all in the same postcode.
When I checked the site, it only had one sale in 2000 for my postcode, one of the converted 5. There are no details of the other conversion sales, or of one of the other, older house that sold last year
Was this the one mentioned on Radio 4 this morning, where they announced the "nosiest" town was somewhere in Surrey (I seem to remember)? They looked at the number of lookups by area, and this town had the highest number.Jumbo

There are lots of free maps sites but the new Google one http://maps.google.co.uk (still Beta testing at the moment) allows you to move in all directions continuously by holding down the left mouse button and dragging. You can focus in and out of an area/town in UK, USA and Canada (more countries to be added). Also ties in with Yellow pages so type in 'Chinese' when you're in a town and it will give you all the Chinese restaurants in the area. It's a winner as far as I'm concerned. His money is twice tainted: taint yours and taint mine - Mark Twain0

confused.com is useful for listing insurance companies and getting lots of quotes.
I've been with the annoying red kiddies 'phone company for donkeys' years, almost since it started. After checking with confused.com the cheapest quote was with the nodding dog company. So I phoned the red telephone call centre and they managed to match it (all but a fiver - better the devil you know ?).
By the way, if you can almost remember one of these useful web addresses go to advanced google - set the where-to-look box to URL (uniform resource locator) and poke about until you find it. This can be quicker than keying in the full address at the top of your Internet Explorer screen anyway.
Good hunting,
Mary0
