Remortgage and credit card

Options
Hi, I have a credit card but no debt on it, ie a balance of it as zero. I want to apply to remortgage in early Dec. Would I be best to close this credit card account, or keep it open with a balance of zero in terms of liklihood of meeting affordability criteria?

TIA

No reason to close the account. Though I would add the caveat that your question has only been answered in an isolated sense. In terms of what you've asked.

It will make no difference whatsoever.

  • Thanks. Would having a credit limit available via the credit card reduce the amount that could be borrowed? Would it be best to close the account if I wanted to maximise the remortgage amount?

    No. Neither.

As stated, no impact whatsoever regardless of what you do. Leave things alone.
