Pre-payment Meters

I had Pre-Payment meters forced upon myself by NPower on 24th July 2015, Both gas and Electricity. I waited 4 weeks for both a gas card and key meter. I phone them up and they gave me a code. The code did not work and I was left without any supply for both. I had to ring the emergency energy people to sort something out. I have now done this twice already. Its now the end of September I have finally received an electric key but still no gas card. They keep telling me to use the code and pick one up from a store. This code does not work and its getting annoying as I have no gas. What do I do.

They were not forced on you. You were in debt, did not have an arrangement to pay that satisfied NPower and so a prepayment meter was installed to enable you to repay the debt and to pay for your utilities.
You need to call NPower and explain to them clearly and succinctly that the gas card you were sent does not work and nor does the RTI code you were given. You are unable to pick one up from a store as they do not stock them. Ask for a new one to be sent to you ASAP.0 -
Im not saying I was sent a card... I have never had a card. I rang them up and explained to them that the code does not work. They did not even offer to get me a new code.0

Do as I suggest and post the result0 -
If your debt is under £500 you can swap to another supplier and a geta key from them.0

The chip on the card has to be correct way up, up for a horizontal slot, on the left for a vertical.
Does the meter say "off ". Is there any credit on the first screen and is the debt and debt repayment amount loaded on the meter.Screens 26 and 27 show this.If the meter man is coming to "wind on " £5 it sounds like he should be doing a full "decomm/recomm " to get the meter working properly. We have meter readers working for us, (like me ) who have no idea how to do this procedure.0 -

I don't think the OP even has a key/card yet, the shop won't release one the code he has been given.
More NPower incompetence!0 -

How have you obtained gas & electricity for the past 2 months?
(I didn't think the emergency guys you mentioned would arrange this for months on end)0 -
