Just bought an iPad

Sorry as I'm sure I'm going to come across as being totally thick here, but I've just bought a refurbished iPad from an Ebay shop (they've got 100% positive reviews) to take on my hols.

Firstly, was this a mistake???

Secondly, I'm a bit worried about using it for online banking as I haven't got any security/anti virus.

Two conflicting stories..... one side is that Apple products are nigh impossible to hack, the other is that hackers are now able to get into Apple products. Not being so computer savvy, I'm inclined to get some sort of protection.

You very kindly directed me to Avast free anti virus for my laptop and I've used them for years with no problems.

Can you help please? Bear in mind I only know limited new technology jargon!

Security will do nothing for online banking on a tablet .

Avast may do an IPad version .

iPads do not need any security software. They are designed so each "app" cannot see the others so everything is in its own little "sand box"

Thanks, this puts my mind at rest. Going on holiday soon so when I'm on the beach, looking at the sand, I'll think of your reply:D

Yes - You got ripped off.

Apple charge around 3x the price of other similar kit that does the same job

But that's another story ..
Rest easy and ignore the hype, you don't need security software on your iPad, or any other tablet.
