Mum Going Into Care Home.

I am not really sure whether this is the right board, hopefully I will be directed if not.
Myself and my daughter, who is disabled live with my mother in her house. The mortgage is all paid, and has been for many years. I have lived with her since the break up of my marriage 8 years ago.
I was her carer, and am also my daughters carer. My mother has now reached a point where I can no longer care for her, as my daughters disabilities have got worse. Myself my sister and my mum have discussed the situation, have decided that she needs to move into a care home, she is very happy with the decision.
The problem is that we have been told that her property, being an asset will have to pay for her care and the fact that we live there makes no difference as we will have to find an alternative home.
I don't seem to be able to get a definite answer, if this is the case then we are stuck as the house has been adapted for my daughter and we wouldn't know where to start.
TIA

It says the home is disregarded if her (your mothers) grandchild is incapacitated.
Does your daughter receive any of the benefits listed on page 9? i.e. does she qualify as incapacitated.0 -
It would be interesting to know who told you this? I am looking at this factsheet

Great advice and info, it's all there in the Care Act 2014 now, so much clearer than before.
OP if it's a Social Worker that has told you this, print off the relevant fact sheet and give it to them, assuming your daughter meets the criteria referred to on page 9.
You would also be exempt if for example you were 60 or over as well.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0 -
Always a shame when a poster doesn't return after an initial post, especially when the answer given could be very helpful to them.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0
