Stovax Gazco 5 year Warranty

I purchased a Stovax Riva Vision Midi Log Burner 18 months ago and the decorative paint at the bottom of the door has peeled away spoiling the look of the stove. When I approached Stovax through the retailer I was told that glass (along with a whole host of other parts) was not covered by the warranty. However, I have discovered that the actual problem relates to the use of the spray cleaner which when it runs, between a gap between the glass and door frame, onto the rope seal between the door and the inside of the glass causes a chemical reaction causing the rope adhesive to melt and run and it is this that has caused the paint coating to peel.
Having pointed this out to the Stovax Technical Department and maintained that this is not a glass fault but a paint coating fault, I received by email a partial admission that this could indeed be the cause and they have offered me a 50% discount on the purchase of a new glass panel and seal (£172). As I regard this as a manufacturing issue which should have been detected by Stovax Gazco prior to marketing this fire I have not accepted this offer. I feel that the stove is not fit for purpose and there is a likelihood that this will occur again in the future, regardless of how carefully I clean the glass. Buyers of Stovax Gazco products need to read the warranty conditions carefully before purchase as it is more or less worthless in my view and in my case I am being fobbed off in what is a genuine faulty goods claim.
I will be writing a letter of complaint directly to Stovax Gazco senior management in pursuit of this issue.

Did you purchase it directly from the manufacturer? Or someone else? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

Cheapest way to clean stove glass is use the ash on a wet piece of paper, wipe the glass and then use another piece of clean newspaper to wipe dry, no need for glass cleaning products
Can't you just paint the stove with stove paint assuming its black?
The rope can easily be bought cheaply along with rope glue. I buy mine on ebay they need replacing every few years in any case as they start to fray0 -
Not fit for purpose then its Sale of Goods Act via the vendor .But at 18 months you will need to prove your claim via an independent report .
Manufactures warranty is often a limited warranty subject to terms and conditions .0
