BACS payment with incorrect payee name

A BACS payment has been sent to me with the incorrect payee name. It's a completely different name from mine. Will the payment still be accepted or will this be a problem?

In most cases it'll reach you if the acct number/sort code are correct, UK banks don't typically cross-reference the payee name.

Not clear whether you've noticed a payment in your account, or that you've been told a payment has been sent to you.:o

If the former, were you expecting this payment? Is it yours?
