Is Avast beginning to annoy anyone else?

I've been using paid-for Avast Premier for a few years. To be honest, even as a paid user there are times when the pop-ups become a little annoying. Avast, for example, have taken to reminding you that your subscription is running out in the last 45-days or so of a licence period even if your licence is set to auto-renew. I could do without that pop up a couple of times a day, and it doesn't seem to care if you're running Avast in silent mode (which I usually am).
But aside from that annoyance, and bearing in mind I don't use the Free version, I have no real issue with Avast. I run it in parallel with Malwarebytes Anti-Walware Premium and I haven't had any infections for years now. I know that some would argue this isn't very money saving, and they're right, because the truth is if I was more pro-active myself I could keep my PC's safe without these software subscriptions but it's not a huge amount of money for a bit of piece of mind, and potentially saves me a bit of time too.0 -
Bitdefender showing up pretty well, especially with the question mark over Kaspersky.
e.g. http://thenextweb.com/insider/2015/08/14/kaspersky-antivirus-accused-of-creating-malware-for-over-10-years/
Bitdefender rarely shows it's presence, once/month perhaps.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
we are clearly on a different planet if you thought that was rude, It was a response to your inference that I'm some kind of solitary evangelist, it was short because there is no point dragging out the discussion any further.
Well no, I do think it's rude. Given that you've on several occasions commented on people checking charts before switching, eluding to, although not actually saying that Avast is better. You could have said, well actually both those products you mention do pretty well, or advised why you think Avast is better. Instead of saying you don't care less, which is not a nice way of replying to anything.
But I do agree with most of what you say, I know it's the pattern free software goes down, but Avast did so well for so long, it is sad that it's getting as pushy because I do like it. I've had that orange spinning ball on task bar for as long as I've had a computer just about.
And the point I was making it my last post really, was that I legally have access to full versions of products as do many others but have always chosen to stay with Avast, so comparing free with free isn't always right either.
And fine, adding a line at the end of an email is a preference, and Avast allows it to be turned off which is fine. It annoyed me that for some reason it did it without asking.
As for the website thing, we seem to be talking about two difference things. I totally agree with blocking dodgy websites. However, I don't agree with blocking websites based purely on the criteria that they get little traffic or downloads from Avast users.
I appreciate that you taking the time to reply and more thoroughly explain your thoughts, and I'm sorry if I took things personally which maybe I shouldn't have.0
