O/S Daily Thursday 24th September 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now just getting light, very wet underfoot – puddles everywhere, but does appear to have stopped raining now – forecast is for it to stop raining by 8am and be a dry day – we’ll see. If it’s dry later I have a basket full of wet washing to go out on the line.

DH up and gone to work. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit but I’ll wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was pork steaks braised in stock, mash, veg and gravy.
Tonight we’re supposed to be having roast chicken pieces, which I did remember to get out of the freezer but put in the fridge as it was warm in the kitchen due to cooking the dinner and having the oven on, and I forgot to get them out before I went to bed, so now they’re still frozen.

Yesterday work was very quiet early on but then became much busier mid to late morning. I’m now on days’ off and have a whole list of chores I need to get done, so will get cracking with those but just try to get as much done as possible without letting myself get overwhelmed by it all, will just potter along steadily, I have all day today and tomorrow, so no real pressure and we’re not away this weekend, although I’m going with DH to a caravan event, it’ll be an early start and we won’t get home until mid-late afternoon. On Sunday I think we’re going to take a ride to visit DH’s grandfather as we haven’t seen him since we’re got back from our few days at the coast in the caravan over the bank holiday weekend which is near where he lives.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning all. Today's weather forecast promises bits of all sorts, so I guess we have to take what comes.

I'm just enjoying a coffee in peace before I need to go up and waken the 3 girls. The eldest has requested a 6.30 wake up so she has time for her beauty routine - eek she's just turned 11!!!!!!

Another early rising for me. As usual I slept until around 4.30 and then wide awake feeling as though the worries of the world were on my shoulders. It didn't help that I got a bizarre text off DS's gf before we went to bed and I'm thinking she's ready for kicking off again. I despair of DS in that relationship. He's supposed to be calling up this morning but if she's that side out he might not make it.

I got the promised phone call from the Royal Liverpool yesterday to give us details of Mr TA's Gallium scan. Friday the 2nd so that's quick. I just hope the actual treatment starts as quickly. So tomorrow we have Leeds for the angiogram, next Friday Liverpool and the Friday after back to Leeds for the consultant. Our lives revolve round hospital visits these days.

Anyway back to the Liverpool app next week, because of the time of the scan it would involve a late return journey, so she has booked us into a nearby hotel for the night. I looked it up on TripAdvisor and it looks lovely, I could just do a week there the way I feel at the minute.

Time to rouse the girlies so have a good day all ((((((HUGS)))))) if needed. Are you ok LAMEWOLF? Take care all xx

  • Thanks for the new thread and good morning to all.

We have rain this morning and it's dull and depressing.

Got my application to Avon done yesterday so hoping to hear from them today. The sooner I can get started the better as I'm just drifting through my days at the moment. I'm unhappy and starting to sink into depression (I have Bipolar Disorder so have to keep an eye on my mood.)

Plan for the day involves buying oats so I can make bannocks.

Grey and gloomy here, it's rained on an off during the night and I think that's the forecast for today.

Spent an hour or so painting yesterday, small steps but every little helps! The builder came yesterday too and put up a mirror in the bathroom, a large time clock that has been lurking around since we moved in, and lots of little jobs so it's all looking better.

Also stripped the leaves from the tomato plants in the hope that they may ripen, 2 have but they are tiny!

Had stir fry veggies for tea, salad for lunch but not sure what's on the menu for tonight, I'll see how I feel.

TA - Good news re OHs treatment, hope all goes well.

School finishes today for a long weekend, looking forward to not having to get up early tomorrow although I will probably wake at the same time!

    Take care. XX

Flying visit from me, but just to let everyone know SIL has got tilted optical disks, this looks similar to a very serious condition, but it isn't too bad, & should respond to medication. Poor SIL still has to cope with is psoriatic arthritis, but is ok apart from that.
    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning everyone.

Slate grey sky outside. It's been wet overnight with rain due later.

Last night my students were really good and worked through a series of challenges with great concentration and only a few hiccups. Unfortunately one chap came in rather on the well oiled side and was fairly disruptive. When I saw him 45 minutes beforehand he was perfectly OK so must have soaked up a huge amount in a very short period. I wasn't happy.

Today I have no set plans apert from a video call in the early afternoon. Apart from that my day is my own. I'll catch up with GBBO which I always miss on Wednesdsy nights.

TA - such good news and such a busy time ahead. Gather your strength too.

Right, off to start my day. Happy Thursdsy everyone.
  • Good news HH, I was going to ask how he got on but thought it was a bit early for results.

    Morning all,

Very grey day here and windy too looks like its set in for the day, off to work for me at the normal site today which I prefer.

Sausages and chips for dinner tonight maybe with beans will see what we fancy, I need to do a wash and empty the dishwasher too.

TA glad the appointment came through hope all goes well xx

Just remembered I have the dentist this morning too, will need to nip out of work for a while, although last time I waited nearly an hour and had to leave without seeing anyone ! I hope they are a bit quicker today.

Right better get on have good days all xx
  • Good Morning everyone, grey wet and windy here this morning too but it is forecast to be through before 9 so we should be in for a nicer day than it looks right now. I'm making a slow cooker chilli using shin of beef, long slow cook produces melty delicious meat, yummy! Nothing specific planned for today but we might pick and process the apples from the front tree they're rotting on the branches and we'll lose them all if we don't act soon. Gardens and allotment looking increasingly autumnal as crops finish and the ground is dug over but then it IS the end of September isn't it?

Have yourselves a good day whatever you're doing, Lyn xxx.
  • Hi all,
Just a quick one from me.
All ready for my Coffee Morning. Got loads of prizes for my Tombola.
The sun should come out too.

I will chase up the consultant today too.
Thanks for your good wishes and support. There are lovely people on here.
    Have a good day all.
