expedia.co.uk

does anyone no how payment is taken if you book a holiday through expedia. do they take the payment in full on booking or is a deposit taken then the full payment is collected a few weeks later?

this happened when i booked through another internet company so wondered if expedia did the same. ive tried contacting, waiting for a reply so thought id ask you lot

    I've only ever used them for flights but I've always had to pay in full at the time of booking.

    Right, after they charge your credit card you are on your own. Even if they fail to provide the service they will go the extra mile to keep your money. That happened once to me and apparently to hundreds (maybe thousands of other travelers : http://www.expedianews.com ) It is better to deal with a travel agent to avoid nightmares.

    Hi,

    Expedia always take the full amount immediately regardless of when your flight/ holiday is (I guess that's the way they make their money & keep the prices compatitve).
    I usually use them & have found them to be reliable & helpful. When you go through the booking procedure it does tell you the amount will be debited in full. I've neevr heard of them taking a deposit first.
  • I've used Expedia lots of times, they always take the full amount up front.

    On the times I've used them, they have been very reliable.
    You never know how far you can fly, till you spread your wings.

    Thanks for the heads up gh66!

    I have used Expedia two or three times when their hotel/flight package looked too good to miss and the upshot is that we have had a great deal, but I think in every case we have had to blag something either from the hotel or from Expedia to get exactly what we wanted.

    As for charging it all up front yes they do, but you might find the flights are charged separately or might be charged directly by the airline IIRC.

    The last one was where the breakfast and superior room deal disappeared between start and end of the booking process and we ended up calling Expedia to fix it. They fixed it quite fast and gave a £50 goodwill credit which we used immediately against a Radisson Stay and Park deal at Stansted...

    Many of the complaints on that website look like US customers complaining, but there are an awful lot of them dated 2007:eek:

    If you use a credit card I imagine you can rely on Consumer Credit Act 1974 to get you out of any serious problems? Correct me anyone?

    expedia do do part payment. i emailed them and recieved a reply saying a deposit can be made then full payment is taken 6 weeks before the holiday

    They are to all intents and purposes Expedia and are usually cheaper. I've actually called them and they've answered as Expedia.

    I've used them for flights and no problems
