There's always childminding. It's hard work but can be reasonably well paid for home-based work, you work for yourself, and there's usually plenty of work available. There are some grants and free stuff available through the SureStart program, contact your local council for details. It's obviously not the sort of thing you want to do with a newborn but she could do the work to become a registered childminder now and start working when the baby is older. The NCMA site has more details.0

tightgit wrote:Hi I am very interested in this. Can you tell me if there is a big difference between companies as to what they pay ? The jobs I have had have been very low. e.g. the last one offered £5 to go and eat a meal with a child buying certain things and a questionaire max. spend £20.
There is a very big difference between companies.
I think I know the company you mention above, and they do pay poor rates. However I pick local jobs up from them as it's a free meal out and the kids enjoy those visits.
As an example, I've done mobile phone shop visits for a number of companies. The best paying company paid me £23 per shop plus mileage and parking, but the worst one is currently paying £4 a visit and no travel costs. Considering you can be in store up to 20 mins as you have to see a phone demo, I wouldn't touch the £4 jobs as it's just not worth it.
The best thing to do is register with them all. You'll soon work out what's best for you and can pick and choose what you do.
There is a mystery shoppers forum at:
www.mysteryshoppersuk.com or PM me if you want to know more. I can't name shop names or name companies and the fees they pay for confidentiality reasons. Here I go again on my own....0
