To Accept Dss Or Not To Accept Dss? - That Is The Question!

By the looks of it, it also depends on where you live as my council is quite quick processing HB claims and issuing payments to LLs, in around 2 weeks, even faster sometimes.
I’ve dealt with quite a lot of people making HB claims and, yes, going through normal channels (ie, estate agents) is effectively impossible but I’ve found that dealing with landlords directly is far, far more effective.
Personally I believe it to be daft to establish an outright, blanket ban on DSS supported tenants. Even from an income perspective, it makes sense to have DSS tenants because it would provide a stable and relatively secure income stream.
It all comes down to the tenants themselves. There are DSS tenants and then there are DSS tenants. Obviously some sort of selection would be needed, but to declare them as ‘untouchables’ is, in my view, akin to LLs shooting themselves on the foot!5p savings box: £01.60
