How do I put them back?

Drag them over?
(I sometimes get this if I start up the secondary monitor while Windows is booting up. Now I either have the monitor already on, or I wait until Windows is booted up and logged in before starting it).0 -

Thank you but how do I move them all at the same time - or do they have to be done individually?

Draw a big box round them to highlight them all ?
Hold the CTRL key and click them all to highlight them ?
Press CTRL and A (select all) ?0 -

You could use the mouse to drag a box around all the icons to select them all.
Otherwise, you could select the top icon, hold shift then select the bottom one, this will select everything in between them0
