There's an article on the right about Santander

Having just read said article , all I can say is, a financial journalist of standing , should know better than to use figures that were generated on an internet forum. Some of the figures quoted are complete tosh " 8% of account holders earn £500 plus a year in cashback " yeah right. The issue is MR Lewis , by putting your name to these quotes ,it makes me wonder what else you are telling me that is complete fantasy.0 -
What's not to believe about that statement? Is it simply because there's no proof behind it, or do you find it unbelievable? I think it's easily believable that 1 in 12 make that amount and more.ceredigion wrote: »Having just read said article , all I can say is, a financial journalist of standing , should know better than to use figures that were generated on an internet forum. Yes it's ridiculously impossible even with the maximum £10 CB on a Santander mortgage and inputting wildly high exaggerated costs for all the other CB eligible items on Santanders own 123 calculator (now incorporating the £60 fee to make the net amount) the max sensible CB anyone can get before the £60 charge is about £200 and even that's highly unlikely. I get £20 a year.
£500 CB pah!!? Impossible.0 -
Many people (and some admitted it on threads on here) will have misinterpreted the question and included their interest in the figure claimed! But I agree it looks like no-one has sense checked the poll results before going to print!
I could do a bit better on my utilities I'm sure, but I make around £3.80 a month (on gas, electric, council tax, water, BT, and Tesco mobile), so just over £40 a year.0 -
£5.60 a month for me, old house takes a lot of heating
+ sky

Had my first cashback of £5.87 and interest of £5.40

Note that the monthly account charge is increasing in January.

I suspect they just took the raw figures from that thread where they asked what cashback you got. They don't seem to realize that you're much more likely to report cashback if highly successful, whilst others who have underused the facility through laziness or whatever are highly likely to avoid any money-saving 'shame' by simply not responding.YorkshireBoy wrote: »Many people (and some admitted it on threads on here) will have misinterpreted the question and included their interest in the figure claimed! No it is to do with people not reading the question.0
