Best Christmas markets in Europe

  • Bruges is lovely but last year had a very disappointing Christmas market.

There were several stalls selling what were supposed to be hand-made decorations; they were store baubles with a bit of holly or glitter stuck on them, and they weren't particularly nice either.

Many of the other stalls had leatherwork that, although quite nice, looked to have been factory manufactured and the sort of thing you can buy anywhere.

I was looking for the wooden or lace ornaments you used to be able to buy at the continental Christmas markets, or unique-to-area gifts, not stuff I can pick up anywhere in the UK.

The food and drink stalls were nice though.
