Just wondering if anyone has any ideas as Dropbox support just sent their standard email saying they're busy and can't help.
I have dropbox (free version) on my laptop with windows 7 and it works fine. When I try to install it on my desktop which is running windows 8.1, it slows it down to the point that the desktop becomes unusable. (The desktop doesn't have anything different on to the laptop otherwise.)
It's definitely dropbox causing the problem as when I uninstall it, the computer's straight back to normal. I've tried the various incompatability setting which make no difference at all.
Any suggestions as to what else I can try?

It's trying to sync your files from the cloud to your new dropbox instance , time is of the essence
Oh and when you say slows down I guess you mean browsing....4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0 -
No, I mean the whole computer and everything on it slows to a crawl. I click on anything - documents, photos, programmes, whatever and have to wait a good 10 minutes for it to switch. Then another 10 for them to open, and so on. Took over an hour just to uninstall Dropbox, it was so slow. As soon as I did, computer back to its normal perfectly usable self.
I've tried installing Dropbox a couple of times, and it's the same each time. Can't get any work done on office, or do anything till it's gone again. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Is this the newest version of Dropbox, 3.8.8?

Will have a play at the weekend when I have several hours of my life to waste! Not sure how big the files to sync are - mainly word documents for a qualification I'm doing, so not huge. No piles of photos or anything. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
