Since last Wednesday I've had partial sending problems with my AOL account. Some of my sent emails arrive but several don't. I've had emails from AOL stating "your email is being returned to you because there was a problem with it's delivery". It isn't just one email address, it's various. If I send 10 emails I'll get 4-7 notifications of the above.
Has anyone else had this problem, or, is there anyone who could make any suggestions as to how to rectify this problem please? Please don't say get another email address. I have groups of people in my address book and a lot of work saved in AOL. It would be a horrendous job which I don't think I could do without losing probably something needed. Many thanks.

The bounce messages returned to you should specify the reason (or at least a general idea) of why your messages were returned.
What do they say?0 -
Hi nidO. They say "The delivery status had notification errors
.
The line beginning with "Diagnostic-Code" describes the specific reason your e-mail could not be delivered. The following lines contains the RFC822 header of the original email message.
The delivery status notification errors
(email address) host etc said : 422 Too many messages from ******* try again later.
Every one has the same message. It isn't the same email addresses all the time except for one which I use a lot and my messages have always been received without any problems.0 -
You need to clean your mail boxes out, an error 422 is exceeded storage limit.
So clean up sent items, empty deleted items folder and your spam folder if you have one.
You need to think about moving your archive folders somewhere else too otherwise you will hit this problem again.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Sent items are always deleted. Spam folder is looked at and emptied every two or three days. However the incoming emails need thining out..........Let's hope it rectifies itself once I've done this. Thank you very much for your time and trouble.0

The error you've quoted isn't being caused by your AOL account's storage or you exceeding it.
Are you by any chance sending these messages to BT Internet recipients?0 -

OOps apologies, was working from memory.
Nido is correct that it's the recipientScience isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Yes they were to btinternet.com addresses. I haven't done anything yet with my inbox I've deleted old post. I have sent further emails and they've been received and not returned :-/. So it would appear the problem has sorted itself out. Very strange. I will however delete my inbox. It is stating I have exceeded the 5000 storage limit but I haven't got that amount. I appear to have 173.
Thanks for the advice. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.0
