Advice please

I get pip at enhanced rate for both care and mobility. I claim income support for my partner and I (he joined my claim when he moved in last year). We have a child who has just turned 1. My partner looks after me (I have MS). He put in a claim for carers allowance 2 weeks ago which hasnt been processed yet due to back log. He has been called to the job centre later this week for a work focused interview to talk about getting back into paid work. I am worried because I cant manage without him, I cant even pick up my son anymore as most days my muscles are too weak. My partner helps me with everything from sorting my tablets 3 times a day and reminding me to take them, to making my meals and helping me bath etc. How will I cope if they are trying to get him back into work? i dont want to hold him back but i need him. I thought carers were excluded from having to work because of their caring duties? im confused and worried. Can anyone shed any light?

Nothing to worry about it, its just a keep in touch kind of meeting. They might talk to him about his future working life and see if they can do anything to help. They will not force him into work or seeking work.

yes but they dont know he is a carer yet as its not been processed. The letter says its about getting him back into paid work or training. Im scared they will put him on a course or something while they are waiting for the carers to be processed. He put in for carers 2 weeks ago but they saying it could take up to 8 weeks to process due to backlog and i cant manage on my own, i cant pick my son up or even myself most days. Worrying incase they force him into some course or another until carers is showing on their system

Please stop worrying. They won't do this. Your partner can take your PIP award letter with him and explain the circumstances. I'll try and find a link to allay your fears.

    A link:

In fact this says that your partner can contact the Job Centre Plus and explain the circumstances and they may even waive the interview.

You do not have to be receiving CA to be a carer, by the way.
