cat foods free of meat and fish derivatives

Hi
My boyfriends cat is allergic to any cat foods that contain any meat, fish or animal derivatives. They cause him to have a skin problem that then requires steriods to sort it out. Ever since switching to foods without the derivatives he's been ok skin wise, its been a year now.
He's been being fed on Olli and Royal Canin dried cat foods as these are the only two foods we can find that are free of derivatives.
I was wondering if anyone else knew if there are other cat foods out there that would be safe for him to have. I'd really like to be able to find a canned food that would be safe for him.
If anyone knows any out there I'd be really grateful.
Thanks

I do not know of any but...
Have you asked your vet yet? They may know of some.0 -
Yup we did ask the vet at the time that it was recommended that he stop having the derivatives, they just said they didn't know and we would have to check the ingredients on foods.0

Bozita and Cosma wet cat foods (available from zooplus.co.uk) look like good bets... have a look and see what you think.0

Poor moggie! It's the first time I've ever heard of a veggie cat! Perhaps there is a way of making food for him or her yourself?nothing to see here, move along...0

Poor cat. You say hes fed on Olli dried food, do they not do a wet food as well? We were given some cat food from a relative who's cat is a fussy eater, and I'm sure the OH said there was a small pack of Olli in the bag. He had already fed them it and put the container in the bin, while I was at work, so cant be 100% sure. I'll ask him when he gets home from work I may be wrong, as usual. Also, how about Denes cat food? Might be worth checking the ingredients list.

Here are some suggestions .The first is a vegan cat food and the second seems to contain no meat, healthy ingredients & no additives it is called Benevo there is also AMI cat food - which one womenon a board I was on recommended as her cats liked it.The vegan society recommended VEGECAT which contains no additives or animal products and I believe is recommended by vets.0

I know it's strange but some cats thrive on it and seem to love it.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

He's not a vegan, he can eat meat, just not the derivatives which from looking at labels on cat foods is top of the list on most.
Olli do so a wet food, but sadly contains derivatives, I got all excited when they brought it out thinking he'd be able to have it. Then checked the ingredients and he can't.
I'll take a look at the foods you've all kindly suggested. Thank you all. Even if it just gives another choice of something he can be fed. Poor cat gets rather bored of having nearly the same stuff all the time.
We do treat him to some boiled white fish sometimes, but of course he smells you cooking it and gets all excited, but he can't have it till its cold enough to eat.
Unfortunately at the moment he's developed very bad constipation problems, and he's back and forth to the vets every few weeks for it. We've been wondering if the fact he can only have dried food is making it worse. He always has plenty of water to drink.
The vet did suggest putting water on the dried food before giving it to him, but he flatly refuses to eat anything when we tried that for a few days.0 -
Have you tried Natures Menu? You can get it from Pets at Home and Jollyes, it's around £4.50 for a multipack of 12 so not that expensive either, sometimes Pets at Home have it on offer 4 boxes for £12.89 which works out to £3.22 a box so even cheaper than the likes of Whiskas and Felix which have as little as 4% meat
It's a high quality, 70% meat wet food with no artificial ingredients, no preservatives, no colourings and no flavourings. Here's the ingredients from the 'Beef & Heart' one:
Beef min 40%
Chicken min 31%
Minerals
Deriviatives of a vegetable origin
Various sugars

Thanks spookylukey, I'd never heard of Natures menu before. It looks good though. As the cats back to the vets tomorrow I'll ask about the veg Deriviatives just to check there safe for him to have. But all being well and good I'll give that one a try.0
