Should I use a different supplier for each of my Gas & Electric

My fixed contract with E.on is coming to an end in November and the prices are gonna be much more after. I've had a look on The Cheap Energy Club to compare and come up with Robin Hood Energy. Although it says it will be cheaper for me when I looked at the breakdown it showed that my gas would actually cost more than with my current supplier where as the electric was a unusually massive saving. I'm not sure to be wary or if I should just switch my gas and deal with both E.on for gas & Robin Hood electric.

Consult a comparison site to find the best deal for you.
Certainly investigate the option of taking gas & electricity from separate suppliers to obtain the lowest possible price.
You can definitely get gas cheaper than from Eon0 -
It is up to you.
Sometimes savings can be made, sometimes they are too trivial to outweigh the benefit of having to deal with only one varying fixed direct debit. Alternatively having separate accounts can separate such niggles.
Having a different tariff for each fuel with the same supplier is also an option.
The actual dual fuel discounts theseadays are trivial and irrelevant for most.0 -
I have always found Dual Fuel to be less competitive. I think it is due to the fact that suppliers always seem to sell one fuel cheap, subsidised by the other.
By taking single fuels you can get the cheapest of each and get subsidised by customers on Dual Fuel.
Dual Fuel discounts used to be a lot better, but now they don't really amount to much.
I don't find it much work to maintain two accounts, both can be done with my iPhone anyway.

As already said, dual fuel does not have the cost attraction it used to have, it's just the benefit of only needing to deal with one supplier and contract, especially if you subsequently want to go back to a dual fuel deal.
I too have seen Robin Hood Energy come up as an attractive fixed price deal, but the saving it offers over my current fixed deal is less than £10 a year. I'm currently with one of the big 6 on a fairly good tariff with 10 months to run and no exit penalty, so I could switch away, but would hesitate going to a brand new supplier for such a small saving. I got £30 cash back on my last switch, there's no such offers available for switching to Robin Hood, so just not worth it IMO.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I've noticed several suppliers recently who will not give an online quote for a gas only supply - you have to phone them.mad mocs - the pavement worrier0
