Hugo boss faulty shoes help!

Please help. I got my husband a £300 pair of hugo boss shoes as a treat to celebrate his new job. Within 4 hours of wearing them they started peeling. I tried to return them to the store and was told I wouldn't be given a refund as they had been scuffed. I wrote to hugo boss with photographs and they have said it counts as accidental damage and they won't refund me. The shoes were not scuffed, they are peeling and they should last more than 4 hours in London. Please help. I have never been told by any company that I can't get a refund and I totally disagree with hugo boss' customer service. £300 for 4 hours wear! They are not fit for purpose. What can I do?

  • I think the best course of action is to get an independant report to say they are faulty. Present this to the shop you bought them from and reject them as faulty good. I think they should pay for the report too... I could well be wrong, and I am sure someone will correct me :)

    Pictures ??
  • Pictures would help. The shop needs to prove that they are not a manufacturing defect as within the first 6 months the onus is on them under the sales of goods act. If the store doesn't budge write to head office, however if this is genuinely wear and tear then you're not covered by the act.
  • I Buy Hugo Boss shoes quite a lot, I really like the style and the fit, plus they do have some bargains in the clearance section.

IF you can post some pics up, that would be really helpful, thus far i haven't had any issues with any of mine, but if a certain style or finish is ropey, Id like to know!

    Thanks

What part of the shoes was "peeling"?

Try either going back or writing to them and pointing out that within 6 months of purchase, it is for them to prove the fault is not inherent rather than for you to prove it is and by turning you away without sending the shoes off for inspection, they are also possibly in breach of the CPRs (thats consumer protection from unfair trading regulations) by misleading consumers about their statutory rights - which can amount to a criminal offence.

Alternatively, if you bought them on credit card, contact your card issuer and begin a section 75 claim. When you purchase goods worth more than £100 on credit card, your card company are jointly and severally liable - meaning you have the same rights with them as you do the retailer.

As above, if it is user damage, you likely wont be covered (unless perhaps they're not fit for purpose and that is why they have ended up damaged).

There is a huge difference between scuffing and peeling so pictures will speak a lot more than any more posts on this.

If the OP is not willing to share the pictures sent to Hugo Boss then there is nothing more to say on this one.

You will need to use something like photobucket then post a link, then someone else can put the photo up for you.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    Who makes Hugo Boss shoes?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
