Lying about your employment details?

in Credit cards
Im interesting in getting into stoozing, and looking to apply for a few credit cards to do that.
Thing is im currently unemployed, and of course credit companies don't really like handing credit to people who are unemployed at the time of applying.
I was thinking if lying about my income and employment details, would actually be such a bad thing.
Im quite sure most (if not all) credit card lenders don't really go out to track each and everyone's employment details.
Or is there a quicker way for them to find out about someones income and whether they are employed? Does a Credit Check or the Electoral Roll provide that information by any chance?

Not to say that this is potentially illegal
Would it not be easier to spend all the time you would need to make up an income and employer etc actually trying to find a job?0 -
They do sometimes check that the company you claim to work for exists. There is a database that list most UK companies even down to the smallest one man sandwich bar etc. So if you put something down and it doesn't tally then they might try and phone up the company which would create problems for you.The man without a signature.0
