Best site to look for private house sales?

Sorry, maybe it's a bit too late now, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by the Google results for private house sales. We just want to be sure we don't miss a good opportunity...
I guess gumtree is good, but any other tips?
Thanks a lot,
Andre

Most online estate agents are effectively private sales as the owners register the details online with these agents who have access to Rightmove, Zoopla etc but the owners usually carry out the viewings, negotiate and are the ones you contact during the conveyancing process.0

You've started two threads now.
One for Park Homes and one for private sale.
This suggests ( By your own admission on the other thread ) that money is pretty damn tight.
You need to really ask yourself if home ownership is currently for you.
You may save a bit upfront using these methods but longterm the costs could be equal to if not more expensive than conventional house buying. Could you afford any of the three options realistically?0 -
With "private sale" I didn't mean any sale from private persons, but sellers who don't go through with EA, but put it on the market themselves, i.e. privately. I would have thought that there is a market for this as well, because I've read here a couple of times about such purchases. THerefore, I thought that there is a primary website where such sellers (who probably want to safe the EA fees) go to and offer their houses...
@marksoton. This question wasn't about saving money, it was about getting a full picture of the market and not miss anything potentially interesting. Although our deposit will mainly come from family, our income is solid and we are able to get a decent mortgage. However, with our specific needs we are just at the threshold where properties which suit us are on the market - i.e., there are occasionally properties which we are viewing because they suit us and we can afford them, but there are not many. We are renting presently and it doesn't look like we have to move out soon, so we have time to look...
We are just new to the UK and in particular buying a house in the UK, therefore the propbably very basic questions...0 -
If you go on zoopla and view a property for sale in the area you're looking at, you can look for an option on the right hand side to view 'TemptMe' properties in that area i.e. when homeowners are tempted to sell but they're not on the market, you can contact them directly through Zoopla.
A few friends of mine have had success with leaflet dropping. Just printed of a few letters giving a mobile number and explaining how they are looking to buy a house in that area/road. More people responded than I would have expected! Many were people who's parents had died or were going into care homes so were about to start the process of selling anyway.0
