Advice needed regarding JSA...

Wasn't sure this was the correct section of the forum to post this on.
But basically I am claiming JSA (Jobseekers Allowance) and have been doing for a while - though I have 2 interviews this week so hopefully I can get off it.
But my main question is; how do I lodge a complaint about a JSA advisor who works at the jobcentre?

I have had many advisors over the time I have been on jobseekers and in the last month I got changed to a new advisor. This man is a bully. Each time I see him he dredges up the fact that my dad was ill and died of cancer - as if he relishes making me upset. He does little bullying things like this, and he doesn't seem to be satisfied unless I have left the jobcentre feeling like rubbish.

Now, I am an intelligent guy, I am smart, and young. I thought these advisors were there to help claimants get back into work, rather than shatter their confidence further? Far from trying to help me, this man seems to just be trying to get me kicked off it (something he need not do as I am sure I will gain a job in the coming fortnight).

Advisors before have performed their job; they have tried to help me get a job. However this man uses bullying tactics, chips away at my confidence, has even stated he wants me off JSA (he went red faced after he exclaimed that) as if he is targetting me, he has set up appointments I had stated I would find it hard to get to due to other previous engagements - hoping I would fail to attend so a sanction be made on my claim...he has also expelled wind in my presence.

I am not a nuisance...I know there are many that flout the benefits system...but I am intelligent and young, and wanting to get off JSA so I can afford the things I want in life. Indeed I have 2 job interviews this week.

How do I report the behaviour of a JSA advisor? I'd preferably like to do it anonymously.

Thanks for reading.

I should imagine many people send anonymous complaints. It's also possible most of those complaints have no merit.

Speak to job centre manager, there is normally a few.

If you get no luck with that then you speak to the regional manager.

In what way is he mentioning your father? Have you asked him not to? I'm struggling to understand how/ why he would be mentioned.

In terms of arranging appts that clash with prior commitments, unless they are job interviews then the JSA appts come first.
  • I took a year out to help care for my father who had cancer, before he died. So that is obviously a gap on my CV and it knocked my confidence and so I started claiming JSA to look for work.

And on your second point I of course agree.

Have you explained to him that you do not wish to talk about it? That's the first step. Having said that you do need to think about how you can address the subject, as you may be asked about it at interview. You can talk about the transferable skills you developed - coping with stressful situations, dealing with external agencies etc.
