Just wondering if its possible to sign up to one of your dual fuel tariffs, with an Economy 7 meter currently installed at the supply address.
Gas Central Heating has just been installed, and the Storage Heaters removed (by a qualified electrician), so we no longer need the E7 tariff.
I've been told that most energy suppliers can just add the two readings together and charge the total at a single rate, without a meter change but I just thought I would check.

I would run a mile to be honest. Very poor customer service (so much, its has been rated worse than NPower!!).
Do a quick search on here will just reveal how shockingly poor they are and how many complaints they get!0 -
I have the power of a Scotsman. Does that count?

To be honest i've been a previous customer of Spark Energy a few years back so i'm used to poor serviceI would run a mile to be honest. Very poor customer service (so much, its has been rated worse than NPower!!).
so much so that i've got several various template complaint letters already saved to the computer.
But the garbled, disjointed reply I got from Scottish power over the Weekend in relation to the same question above, asked via their online customer services pretty much confirms your warning of poor service, I don't think the operative typing the email reply even knew what Economy 7 was, and seemed to confuse our enquiry with somebody else's - not a good first impression, suffice to say I didn't get an answer to the question, so I thought I would ask the representatives on here, however they don't seem to be bothering anymore, so i'll be taking my business elsewhere.
Incidentally, in the time frame since posting here i've emailed Co-Op Energy, and had a concise detailed reply back within an hour, from somebody who seems to know what they are talking about, and they, at least will allow the existing meter to be used, and they will just total the two readings together and charge both as a single rate which is what we'd originally hoped."Dont expect anybody else to support you, maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse, but you never know when each one, might run out" - Mary Schmich0 -
Scottish Power do not have the facility to aggregate off-peak and peak consumption like some companies e.g BG and Eon.
Whilst SP are clearly a complete shambles at the moment with their new computer system - I am with them and also have an E7 tariff - you might find that staying on your E7 tariff is not such a bad idea.
I have gas CH and with about 25% electricity usage during the 7 hours I am marginally better off with my SP E7 tariff than changing to 'normal' 24/7 tariff.

Scottish Power levy the highest prices to switch from prepayment meters to credit meters, around £200 per meter .Best of luck with their charges to remove the eco 7 meter. Eco 7 prices have really improved of late and you may well find its cheaper to stick with the really low night rate and a day rate almost as good as a single rate tariff. If you have an old analogue timer switch the cheap 7 hours can be anywhere in the 24 hrs.0

Well we seem to be using less than 1 kw/h overnight now that the storage heating / immersion heater have been ripped out, I don't see that it would pay to stay on an E7 tariff. Cooking is done by Gas, and we don't have a tumble dryer, dishwasher etc, so there is nothing more than a phone charger and a digital clock running after midnight so, for us, it wouldn't be worthwhile, there is no way that I could convert 30% - 40% of our total usage overnight, which I'm told, is the point where E7 on my SSE tariff becomes viable, even 25% would be a challenge from normal late evening use consisting of a few led bulbs and the TV.you might find that staying on your E7 tariff is not such a bad idea.
My E7 period doesn't start until 1.30AM anyway, so its hard to even merge normal Evening use into the start of the E7 period.
There was no way i'm paying for a meter change, especially within the next 5 years, it would probably be routinely ripped out again to fit a smart meter for free. I'm happy to tag along with supplying dual readings and having them added together, until which time the meter is routinely upgraded anyway.Scottish Power levy the highest prices to switch from prepayment meters to credit meters, around £200 per meter
No timers - We have an antique "Radio Teleswitch"!If you have an old analogue timer switch the cheap 7 hours can be anywhere in the 24 hrs."Dont expect anybody else to support you, maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse, but you never know when each one, might run out" - Mary Schmich0 -
Have just switched my daughters recently bought house that has an ECO7 meter, but no Storage Rads and CH & Hotwater by gas, to EDF
Move made on the basis of assurances that EDF would charge all Elec use at Standard rate by totalling Day/Night readings, and swap the Eco meter for a Standard meter free of charge.
Switch going thro' now - Will the assurances work out in reality? - Only time will tell0
