Best way to clean floor of walk-in shower

I now have a massive walk-in shower and it doesn't feel that safe to clean the floor (ceramic) of it by doing it the way I have been - ie on hands and knees with the cream cleaner.

It gets rather slippy to say the least.

I've learnt its best to clean inside of shower cubicle first and then shower myself for the day whilst still in there. That way I rinse all that cream cleaner down the drain whilst still in there.

But still feels rather unsafe - eg whilst standing up again after applying that cleaner.

Putting in those safety rail things isn't an option I would do - as they are for elderly/disabled imo - so they are out then for me:rotfl:

What do other people do to clean the floors of these huge shower cubicles?

We put some shower floor safety stickers on our slippery floor about 5 years ago - and they do work. We have the strips version and we can clean them with any cleaner to hand.

I wouldn't put cleaner on the shower before you shower yourself.

I spray cleaning stuff round after bathing, and then wipe & rinse with the shower hose while I'm wrapped in my towels and standing on a bath mat.
  • We have a wet room and I use a rubber long handled brush to clean it all down with, it's got a flat rubber bit the other side to 'squeegy' down too. I can stand at a safe distance without slipping then.

I do what jk0 does, I spray cleaner around after I'm finished then use a bath cleaner sponge on the floor with my foot it never feels slippy then I just spray it down with the shower head. It doesn't really get that dirty (apart from the drain) because I always quickly spray water around the walls before I get out to swish the soap down the drain.

  • I have a walk-in shower with a seat and handles (I am slightly disabled)and I usually have a clear mat on the base which I bought in Wilko's. Its got rubber stick on bits underneath so I won't fall over .I have a microfibre cloth which I use after I have showered to clean the inside of the shower with, then around once a week I'll take up the mat and chuck it in the kitchen sink and give it a scrub. The floor of the shower I use my squeegy mop on, and for the cost of a nice home made spong cake one of my Dds will give it a scour if it needs it :)
  • Im glad you asked this question as i too am struggling to reach on my hands and knees with a baby bump to boot. Im going to invest in the long handled thing tomorrow, our shower always seems dirty after the other half has been in it washing off tile paint from his work

julsifer tell your OH to give the shower a quick spray round with the shower head when he's finished save you the blooming job . We all do that in our house and the shower stays pretty clean and only needs me to actually use a cleaner once a week or so.
