This website loves sending a deal via email.I thought I will register with them to see what they have.
Then I took a closer look at their Orlando availability.
Every few days I would note the hotel/villas rental prices
for Summer 2016 which would be of intrest to us
I would take down the prices and what the properties offered.Feedback was of huge importance and I would see if others had commented on different websites too
It would appear that some of the worst performers of poor feedback would be the special offer deals. Also those prices would have shot up since my last view
e.g one property was around £1000 is now £2220 reduced to £1597
I have emailed Hotels.com but do not expect a reply
In my email I have asked would it be fairer to show the price history of the property over the last few months. It seems to work with Electrical price comparing websites and gives a degree of trust to the consumer

I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve? Prices go up and down, especially in the travel industry. Historical prices aren't of much significance other than to confirm the above - that prices go up and down!0

It's how they inflate and deflate here.No three star is priced so high for a two week duration in Orlando on any holiday website. Not even the currency change would affect it that much
A particular property was £1000 to £2220 now £1597
They just make their prices up as they go along ,just to offer % discounts and make it look attractive
Hang on here's another one....was £597 last week now £1955 reduced to £650 'your secret price' 3 star magical Memories villas Orlando
If you are going just do a good research beforehand across a few sites. The average price should eventually prevail
Thankfully some other websites don't play the same way with the price game.
I will hang onto my notes when I book elsewhere with a bit of Topcashback of course0 -
That's great, and it's refreshing to see someone doing their research to get a good deal. But just to make you aware, all retailers do this - there's nothing unique in Hotels.com pricing structure.
Have a great trip to Florida.0 -

I have had a reply from Booking.com however it fails to address why a place that has usually shown around £1000 mark needs to inflate to more than twice that price for it just to then show at around 60% higher the next day
Honesty and transparancy. That's why a history of the property rental price over the last few weeks and months will bring that.
I'm off to buy my 4pt milk at Asda for 89p.I don't expect it to show £2 crossed out but today's price is £1.60.Oh and here's an extra 10% off coupon0 -
OP has good idea though.. What might seem a 'good deal' now, may just be like a furniture store sale -
'now half price'.. from what was already a (falsely?) too high amount..breathe in, breathe out- You're alive! Everything else is a bonus, right? RIGHT??0 -
It's like the current radio adverts for ASDA for Celebrations ... was £5 now only £4. Except that it is highly likely that a couple of weeks ago the normal price was £4 or less.0

Update
Magical Memories has hit the £2002 crossed out price and now is £590.The example is great as no 3 star reaches that high price
