I currently have a house worth about £140,000 which I no longer have a need of and have no intention of moving back into it again.

Would I be best in selling the house (prefered option) and invest the money or rent it out.

If I was to sell the house where I be best investing this money. I was looking at about 10 years

Just a comment on the renting option -with all the tax and legal changes coming in for landlords, my view is that it is an option only for the brave!

What do you need it for in ten years time, retirement maybe? If so, would saving on an ongoing basis via a pension and getting the tax relief be better? Don't forget, if you rent it out, you're liable to capital gains tax when it comes to selling it. If there's a housing slump in ten years, when you need the cash, and you can't sell it (well), what might the impact be? There are lots of variables.
