Vaillant boiler not responding to salus 500rf thermostatic room programmer

Hi there,
Was hoping someone can give me some guidance.
Ive had a vaillant ecotec pro 28 fitted to my house, along with a salus 500rf programmable room thermostat.
The boiler seems fine but doesnt seem to listen to what commands the thermostat is giving it. We keep having to switch on the boiler for heat manually, and then switch off again when the house is warm.
As far as i can see, the thermostat receiver is getting a signal from the control panel as the lights on the receiver do come and off according to receiving a heat signal or not (dependant on what ive set the controls to). the problem must be with the wiring to the boiler.
Ive spoken to my installer who said its a complicated set-up and he didnt seem to know which wires went where....i must point out he is gas safe registered, but he felt this is for an electrician to wire up....
Does anyone know if its an easy fix? Winters coming and id rather not have to control the boiler the old skool way!

to be clear, the boiler doesnt switch off when it reaches the preset temperature thats been programmed into the room thermostat, even though the thermostat stops calling for heat....0

Just tell your installer to get the electrician back and sort it out. Any electrician who is worth his salt should be able to sort it out,its not 'Rocket Science'0

It's two wires, so as above it's hardly "rocket science". The voltage is likely to be 50v too, so I don't think you even need need an electrician to do it.
HOWEVER, the receiver is usually wired in series with the switch/timer on the boiler, so that basically the boiler AND the thermostat must be switched on for heating to start. So this may sound obvious, but with the thermostat turned down to say 10degrees, does the switch on the boiler still turn the heating on?? Because it shouldn't.
I'm kinda suggesting user error here, but only because around 95% of the UK doesn't know how a bloody thermostat works.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Different boiler and different stat but I'm guessing they all work in a very similar way.
I fitted an RF thermostat to the boiler in my static caravan which was set to run just ona time clock. All it involved was removing a link wire and putting the wires from the thermostat receiver part into the same connector pair. I just used google to find the boiler installation manual. I'd suggest that you do the same. It will not involve opening the boiler innards so doesn't need a registered gas fitter.
Why aren't you getting this fixed by whoever installed it for free?
Have you checked any batteries that may be in the thermostat?0 -
Tell the Installer to RTFM (specifically P28-29 of the valliant manual), he's a muppet as it's not hard. Has the idiot left the bridge in ?

Strider it's 24v for info.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Thanks for all the responses. To strider 590, the boiler ignores what the receiver is telling it. So im guessing the wiring is incorrect between the reciever and the boiler.
To kwikbreaks, the installer is refusing to come back to complete it stating hes not an electrician and this is an electricians job. Doesnt make a difference to me as we had a contract for him to complete the job. If it wasnt in his expertise, it was up to him to tell me. therefore i'm pursuing him for breach of contract. I can get someone in to do it for 50 quid, but i want to get the money from him.0
