Sky TV Aerial Conversion

Options
I've cancelled my Sky TV and wondering if I can use the white Sky dish cable as a TV aerial as I've got in-built freeview but I don't have a standalone aerial only a Sky dish?

No freeview is transmitted terrestrially on a completely different frequency. Only a rooftop aerial can pick it up. An indoor aerial may work depending how strong the signal is in your area.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

You can, however, use your dish and Sky box to watch Freesat, but the channels are slightly different.

My husband wouldn't like it as Dave is free on Freeview but not on Freesat.

It may be worth buying an electronically boosted indoor aerial from Argos and returning it if it doesn't work. Ours works fine, without needing the boost, but we are only a couple of miles from a transmitter.

I too left sky recently but couldn't settle for the skybox "Free sat" because of lack of Dave!

I mounted a rooftop type aerial but in the loft. £15 from the Range. Where does the dish to tv cable go? Through your loft? If so you could cut it (unplug first!) and buy a connector to connect to an aerial mounted in the loft. I live about 10 miles from a transmitter and it worked for me in the loft. At the tv end, get a Sat to Coax adaptor and plug into back of tv.

Let me know if you need anymore details.

NO! Sorry, the naming is terrible, but that's 'freesatfromsky' not Freesat. You can buy a Freesat box to get the Freesat lineup (and record) through the same cables and dish.

Although I don't think non-Sky Freesat has Dave either.
