what fence?

we have a corner house with grass down the side, the problem we have is whatever picket fence we put up it always gets broken by cars either driving over it or parking too close.
Can anyone recommend a good fence to put down thats not too expensive. If we dont have a fence there our grass gets parked on and damaged. Needs to be sturdy and not just break all the time. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Either a larger fence (waist height at least) or if that's too expensive then maybe some largish shrubs on the boundary or some big ornamental stones?
I've seen it round here, people just wandered across the front of a neighbours garden to cut the corner- very rude! They put up a waist high fence and its transformed the problem.Determined to save and not squander!

metal polls, sunk into concrete. Yes cars will still damage them, but you'll feel better about it...
Other options include digging a ditch or putting a curb/raised area before the fence.0 -
Some good sized rocks mixed with shrubs maybe0

When commercial organisations, councils etc. want a reasonably robust but low cost barrier to stop vehicles casually driving over a grassed area they often use knee rail fencing like this:

I'd have thought people would think twice about driving into it, and it should last well if the posts are well embedded in the ground (perhaps fixed with postcrete or similar). Would that serve the purpose?0 -
Get some old tyres, sink them 1/2 way into the ground, assisted by a bag of postcrete in each one and paint them white.
Doesn't look bad, keeps the separation and is less likely to cause ay damage sould someone accidentally hit them.0
