Hi,
Does anybody know if and where I can exchange old notes?? I know that Bank of England still exchange them, but for me is too much hassle to go to London. What about other banks? Any ideas? Thanks for you help

I had no problem paying in some old notes at Lloyds Bank last year.0

I know about last year. Has anybody exchanged them recently??0

Don't forget that depending on age and condition they may be worth more than face value to collectors.0

Whether your local bank takes them depends on which bank you're using and is largely at their discretion.
If not, you can change old notes with the Bank of England directly by post. Sending in notes by post is at your risk obviously. They'll pay you via BACS.0 -
That is interesting. How to check if they are worthy more?0

Have a look on ebay - they have loads of banknotes for sale so you can get an idea from that. Even current banknotes can be valuable, for example if they've got very low serial numbers.
Who's on the back of the notes and what condition are they in?0 -
What notes are they?
If they are the old £20 notes like this one
or the £10...
or £50
they can be cashed in any bank, just pay in with your bank card and withdraw out in new notes if you wish...I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. Ah Sir Edward Elgar and Charles Darwin... I feel even older when I can remember the ones before that were: £5 and George Stephenson with his Locomotive, £10 and Charles Dickens with a scene from the 'Pickwick Papers' and £20 with Michael Faraday conducting an experimentIt's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history.
