I am heartily fed up with buying printers and finding the ink costs as much as the printer. I have just had to buy ink for my HP printer, the second lot in just a couple of weeks.

I use quite a bit of ink, I run a quilting group and have to copy each assignment 10 times, the last one was 14 pages long and despite printing back to back instead of single pages, half way through I got a message saying the ink was lamost empty.

I know at some point the printer is going to give out on me, any recommendation for a wi fi that does not need a mortgage to buy the ink.

I have not used compatible ink cartridges, that was what crackered my last HP printer. So have had to pay top wack for the ink, I have spent just over £40 in the last month alone.

I agree. I've had a small colour Samsung laser printer for a few years now. WiFi so easy to share. Much more economical than an inkjet, very reliable, and no messing around with cleaning or realligning every time you switch it on.

Printing double sided will save paper, but makes no difference to the amount of ink you use.

I'd go with the laser for your black and white printing and keep the inkjet for the colour printing. Make sure you keep printing a colour page once a week to keep the ink moving and not clogging the heads. If you have photo's to print I'd send them to Boots online and collect them in store.

The cheaper the printer, the more expensive the ink.

On the cheap printers the manufacturer barely makes a profit, whilst the store takes probably half the retail price in profit. So the ink is priced high to make up for the lack of profit from selling the printer actual.

I bought an Epson RX620 about 10 years ago, I bought a set of see through refillable cartridges with 6 bottles of ink soon after for £20.

I bought an extra set of refill bottles for £10 (6) a couple of years back and all is well.

£30 worth of ink for 10 years isnt bad at all.

No messing with syringes, the reill bottles have a taper that fits the
cartridges, very fast and easy to refill.

The ink level on the printer drops and when it gets low the carts auto reset to show them being full again.
