Kindle won't let me update credit card details

Sorry I don't know if I'm posting in the right place but my oldish Kindle is driving me insane. It only has expired credit card options and there is no way it will let me update. Can anyone suggest what I can do? Thank you.

Can you update the card details on the my account page of Amazon? Try it not via the kindle but just on the Amazon website.

Aye that would be my first port of call.

I didn't even realise you could update them on the device.

IIRC the kindle does have parental controls so if they're set it could be the ability to change payment details on the device are locked out. The same controls let you prevent the user from buying stuff on the device, which is why I've got them on with my Kindle and kindle apps (after accidentally buying a book I had been looking at).

I'm not sure if the Op is referring to a kindle e reader or a kindle tablet. I would suspect you can update on the tablet as that is just a web browser.

On a side note if you buy a kindle book you can return it within seven days and get a full refund. I find this policy from Amazon odd as it must be abused by customers who just use it like a library.

Amazon's servers went down earlier today, and nothing was working. The problem is probably just due to that so should be fixed now.
