This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Woke up at 4am yet again. I'd give various body parts to make it till 6am and am very tempted to go back to bed now - it is Sunday after all!
Dishes and laundry are up to date, house is tidy. NSD yesterday but will have a spend today - I need to get aqueous cream for hand washing.
I have absolutely no enthusiasm for this day. I made a list of what I'd like to get done after dinner last night but ... Sigh.Household: Laura + William-cat

Morning Laura and all to follow. A kind of foggy start here but the sun is now burning through. I can't believe the weather we've had here over the last week, summer back again. I'll have to water the garden again if this carries on!
I've just been sorting out my tin and jar store cupboard and I really must stop buying more until stocks go down - or the shelves give way!! And why did I think it was a good idea to buy a dozen tins of Puy lentils! I've still 10 tins left and think it's time I looked on the Epicure website for recipes to use them in.
I've accumulated nearly £40 worth of Nectar points this year, thanks to MyCoupons. Sadly the good offers have fizzled out now so I'm thinking of putting the points towards a new microwave. The time dial on mine is getting dodgy and it is so S-L-O-W too. So off down to Sainsbobs this morning to see what they have. Plus I have my medication to pick up from the in-store pharmacy. I'll avert my eyes from any tin and jar offers I promise!
I got a nice surprise this morning. DD asked me yesterday if I had lost weight. No, I said, I don't think so. But I got on the scales this morning and, for the first time since I retired almost 10 years ago, found I had slipped under 10 stone! I suppose it's a result of Mr TA's recent change in eating habits/not eating and I must have cut down myself too without thinking about it! I'm now regretting sending all my size 12's to the cs as they may have come in again after all!!
Have a good day all (((((HUGS)))) to those in need, especially MM. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
I've been lying awake since 6.00am when it was still dark. There's now a watery blue sky so it's anyone's guess how it will go. Yesterday the weather was very strange, neither hot nor cold - very 'ambient' and no wind. I sat out in the back garden to do my reading.
Well done TA.
After my day of reading yesterday I feel quite rested. I did a bit of pottering in the garden and now it needs a good tidy up. I want to rake it up the metal rake is rather harsh so will get a plastic one tomorrow.
A friend called in with his wife's new tablet which I set up with email so a pleasant hour was passed. Then I lay on the sofa for Dr Who :j
I'll try to have another half hour in bed, the rest of the week is pretty busy so this may be my last chance until Friday.
I hope everyone has a good Sunday.0 -
Morning All
Gers, like you the weather could go either way! Yesterday's sunshine didn't last but it was pleasant enough.
I spent most of yesterday painting the bathroom which now looks lots better, a lighter shade has made all the difference. Ready now for the bits and bobs to go up.
Went to the coffee afternoon, ok but I left once the raffle was done, folk were drinking by then so it was time to go! Good effort by my work colleague and nearly £300 raised.
More painting to do today and I am determined to do some cleaning too.
Washing on the line, DW emptied and pot of tea by my side in bed!
MM - hope you feel better soon.
Have a good Sunday, take care.0 -
Morning :hello:
Your weather from yesterday is here with me today GersEverything is perfectly still and I'm not sure whether I need a jumper or not, when I move around it's too warm but when I sat down just now it felt chilly. It's quite misty too.
I made some notebooks (didn't really need to but I love using my wire binder, lol) then went through my crochet patterns, binned the ones I didn't like then copied the rest into two of the books. I have blanket patterns, decorations and a few toys, I need more variety so I'll be googling for more patterns today.
I should have plenty of time for crafty things for a few weeks – I'm a rugby widow and I rather like itIf mr tru's not watching it then he's on social media talking about it. Long may it continue, lol. I've found my hook – I'd put it in the pen pot instead of the hook pot
I'll make a start on that jumper today.
Despite looking after my hands and using hand cream, they're very dry and the skin has split slightly on two of my fingers on one hand. I can only put it down to Scampi pulling on the lead – I wrap the lead around my hand a couple of times when he's very close to the road to keep him next to me – but I haven't walked him for a few days so I'm not sure why it's so sore now? I'll give them a soak this morning, use some hand scrub and thick moisturiser then dab sudocrem on the split bits. Can I use this as an excuse not to wash up all day? :rotfl:

tru - my hands are the same at the moment, I put it down to the DIY. I have put spray plaster on the split skin overnight and it has helped. Hurts like h£ll when it goes on though!0

Morning all
We had a lovely day looking after the twins y'day, they are both walking now, though she is steadier & faster than him, the health visitor has some concerns about him as he is still very small & some way behind. But he is a happy little soul & he made all the animal noises when we read his book to him.
After the twins had left I went to feed DS's cats, this time the Korat/Thai came downstairs almost immediately, climbed up beside me on the sofa & had lots of strokes & cuddles. I sent DS the following message on FB.
Dear Mummy & Daddy thank you for sending Hester round to feed us, JC wouldn't come downstairs, but I did & got lots of cuddles. Next time you go away can you choose someone a bit more intelligent to take care of us, although Hester noticed I was beautiful & told me so, she didn't understand that I wanted to go in the garden no matter how many times I told her!, love KC.
Have a good day everyone.

TRU - last winter I discovered Hemp Hand Protector from the Body Shop. It's brilliant stuff. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Good morning everyone,
Well its misty, but the sun is shining so it will burn off shortly.
What happened to having a lie in at the weekends? DH and DS were both up really early this morning and have gone off to their respective work. I couldn't get back to sleep so have got up showered, dressed and had breakfast.
I have a load in the wm to go out shortly and will do the ironing from yesterday. Not sure what else I will do today, might have a go at cleaning the windows.
DD is still in bed but she will have to give her room a good clean, so I may offer to help her.
With everyone out working its hard to meal plan at the moment, but I am thinking I will make a quorn chicken pie with roast potatoes and veg tonight, and probably a fruit crumble.
I am going to make another cup of tea, and then must get on.
Have a good day everyone and enjoy the sunshine if you can:)SPC 11 #4450 -
Morning, (((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Fine morning, forecast for tomorrow is dire so bed stripped and in the washer. OH off to the stables for more manure, he has to dig through the heap to get at the well rotted stuff, so both he and the car stink when he gets back.....
Something weird this morning, yesterday I put in all the bulbs in the front, as he was going out OH called me to the window, several bulbs lying in the front of the bed but no sign of anything having dug them up!! I will go our shortly and put them in, there were also some through the fence on our neighbours garden.......
No roast today, going to do chicken breasts in brandy with apricots......a very old favourite, we have picked enough beans for supper, more to come so fingers crossed we do not get a frost. Everything is is late, thanks to my little trip for my pacemaker.
I think it is psychological but I do feel better since my visit to the clinic last week, and 12 weeks to my next appointment.
Not too happy with my printer, I have just put new inks in, half way through printing instructions for the quilting group this week, it told me the ink was empty!!! What the heck?????? It drives me nuts, you buy a printer and the cost of the replacement inks is more than the blasted printer cost in the first place.......I wish I could find one that does not cost the earth for ink. I do use a lot for the group and the cash comes out of the club account, but £40 for ink in just a few weeks is ridiculous. I would use the compatible inks but I know people with HP printers have big problems trying to get the printer to use them, it will not recognise the inks and refuses to work.
Hey ho, HP no longer make the printer, so at some point it will go phut and I will have to do some serious research to replace it. Not yet please.....I am broke.
Right off to put the laundry out and remake the bed, OH usually helps me but he is not here so will have to struggle on my own putting the cover on the duvet. I was thinking of taking the summer quilt off, he who must be obeyed said no, with the quilt on top of the duvet he is warm enough.0
