Golden Grey users

I have been using Golden Grey for agessssssssssssssssssssss, Golden White for several month and was always very happy with clumping, minimal tracking, smell reduction etc etc.

But the last 2 deliveries I noticed clumping very bad, sticking to the bottom of trays (I always fill in very deep and it never happened before), clumps not solid but ermmmm gluey kind of.

Has anyone else noticed that?

Just ordered OKO - hope it will not be as bad as the Tigerino fiasco some of us suffered some time ago due to great price at the time, tracking was diabolical...

I know lot of people swear by OKO but I did try it before and tracking was awful but with the recent issues with Golden Grey, after many years happy buying ... hmmmm

We now use greenwoods natural litter, it is identical to oko but a bit cheaper, I find it doesn't go quite as dusty either. I don't find tracking a problem, but then I didn't with oko and our cat is long haired.
  • Thanks. With 4 cats I remember the tracking of Tigerino (which is supposedly identical to OKO) was horrid so dreading it now with 6 cats, will see...
  • Oko is pretty dreadful for tracking GR, as bad asTigerino if I recall.
I have taken to spraying the inside of the trays with Silicone spray to stop litter sticking and it really helps.
( food safe or the one used for diving gear)

I tried the Greenwoods and didn't notice any difference to Oko - in terms of both good and bad qualities (the tracking is terrible on both!).

    There's a good offer on Grrenwoods at Zooplus at the mo... 2 x 30L for £27. http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_litter/biodegradable/bio_clumping/520796

Clean trays as normal, allow to dry then take them outside to spray with this stuff. make sure you cover all the internal surfaces especially in the corners.
I think over time we take the surface off plastic boxes when we clean and scrub them, and the rougher surface allows even more dirt to cling so we scrub more and on it goes. I kind of shake the box and clumps just fall away cleanly. magic
  • Thanks, ordered xx

gettingready have you tried aldi / lidl clumping clay litter at £1.79 per 10l bag?

I've been using this for a number of years with no real problems and it clumps well.

I have just the one cat and use two bags a month approximately in this tray (giant version) http://www.pet-supermarket.co.uk/Products/CA0879/van-ness-high-sided-cat-pan which is huge as madam is quite big and really likes to dig. I put both bags in at the same time but you could probably get a third in as I top up with two at the end of the month.

I clean the clumps out daily using nappy sacks.

You could maybe combine a lidl shop with their £5 off £40 shop which is on just now with their free magazine.

PS how is Zara and her babies. Distinct lack of pictures of them together lately.
