I want to play the xbox one on my pic monitor and connected the two by hdmi candle but it wouldn't work. I realised this is because the pc monitor hdmi extension is hdmi out only. I need an hdmi in port obviously. Is there any way I can still make this work?

That cable won't work. It won't convert a HDMI signal to an analogue signal.
OP, you will need a monitor with a HDMI socket.0
