hello, just a little warning about purchases of non electrical items at homebargains, apparently there is no repair/replace/refund if your non electrical item is or develops a fault after 28 days,i even have it in writing from my local store and 2 calls to general enquiries head off home bargains confirmed this,
we purchased a shopping trolley in juneit was little used and developed a fault where the wheel came off and would not stay on the rim,we took back the trolley along with original receipt expecting a replacement ,the trolley other than the faulty wheel was in good condition. We were refused a refund on the grounds that it non electrical item older than 28 days and it was company policy not to issue replacements or refunds on faulty goods over 28 days (other than electrical items),this has been confirmed by home bargains head office general enquires as there company policy.i was later told to expect call from a area manager ,that failed to materialise i have been given advice from others and by cab that they should follow the sale of goods act ,but if falls on deaf ears at head office general enquiries, they had no one senior to talk too.
im uploading a written note from my local store by the acting manager, showing its not company policy to do any thing with non electrical faulty items after 28 days:mad:...

Cant really make out exactly what the letter says as its a bit blurry. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

Their policy is illegal and against our consumer rights. Take the evidence you have that they told you this and complain to trading standards.0

Even their website seems to have misleading info on consumer rights (OP, it can amount to a criminal offence to mislead consumers about their rights).
From their webpage:Return of Defective Goods
The sale of goods act states that goods must:
Correspond with any description given - verbally, in writing or in an illustration.
Be of satisfactory quality.
Be safe.
Work properly.
Have no defects.
Be fit for their purpose.
Be capable of doing what they’re meant for.
If goods do not meet these requirements then we will provide you with a refund, exchange or repair as is appropriate. We will need a receipt or proof of purchase to do this and the goods should be returned to us within a reasonable time. For instance, for electrical goods and most hardware goods, the warranty period is one-year from date of purchase.
Not saying I'd expect their stuff to last years upon years - but its definitely wrong of them to imply you can only return faulty goods within the warranty period. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Unfortunately that letter is hand written and not on company headed paper - it could have been written by anyone.
A chat with your local trading standards may resolve the issue.0
