This thread was originally entitled 'Channel 5 OD on Ubuntu? (needs Flash 15)'

Channel 5 On Demand demands that you have Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0 or later installed, but Adobe haven't supported Linux since 11.2. So, is there any way round this? I only have Firefox and Chrome installed, so maybe it's incorporated in another browser like it is on Dolphin for Android. This is what I want to watch but it expires at 9pm http://www.channel5.com/shows/football-league-tonight/episodes/episode-5-609

Chrome should have Flash 18. It still doesn't play here. After I hit "play" there is only this spinning circle and the video doesn't play.

I have downloaded up to date versions of Firefox and now Opera on Windows but Channel 5 programs fail to render at the last moment, with a standard CA message (its own troubleshooter is of little use).I have Adobe Flash version 19,0,0,185 installed, which is the minimum required for Windows. I'm using 3 mobile broadband, which Channel 5 recognizes as being a UK IP address. I'm currently trying to watch http://www.channel5.com/shows/capital-one-cup-highlights/episodes/episode-3-744 , which expires around midnight.

Working fine on W10 and Opera 33.0.1990.11

Opera offered me the new version today, which I downloaded and installed. Doesn't seem to bear any resemblance to your version!
    Version
    12.17
    Build
    1863
    Platform
    Win32
    System
    Windows XP

    Browser identification

    Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 5.1) Presto/2.12.388 Version/12.17

(C5OD does specifically state it should still work on XP).
I should mention that I have had it working in Firefox before, about a fortnight ago.

Sorry, should have clarified. I run Opera Next Beta.
    Totally stable.
  • I hear Channel 5 On Demand along with IPlayer are testing a future with out Adobe Flash. New browsers support HTML5 which can play without Adobe Flash. Check out youtube without flash on a current browser and it will still play! Magic. Just hope you can hold on just a little longer...
