Letter from Thomson broadbent chartered surveyors
Hi guys, this morning got a letter from the above firm saying their records show there are distribution network power lines either on or close enough to my property that entitle me to recieve annual or capital payment.
They want to represent me and take a cut of 20%.
First time I've heard of this, anyone had any dealings with this or if the company are scammers?
If this is true could I go about it myself and not use them?

Never heard of them, but most probably ambulance chasers. Anything that they are offering to do for you, you can definitely do for yourself.
Depending what property you have and what equipment is on or over your property you could be due a small amount of money..
Definitely speak to your local DNO first, who will be more than happy to pay you what you are due.....and not have to pay this company the fee that they will request off the DNO and then also charge you for.
AMBULANCE CHASERS imho
Do you know who your DNO is and a contact number for wayleaves?0 -
Hi, sorry I don't know any details. What's dno and way leaves? Sorry to sound thick.
I've not got any poles in my garden. Power lines are brought overhead and they go from house to house instead of single power cables to each property if that makes sense. My power cable comes from next door and so on0 -
Dno means distribution network operator
Here is a map showing each areas own
A way leave is an agreement for equipment to be on your land or oversailing your land.
What you describe sounds like mural wiring, typically a pole at the end of a small number of terraced properties, then services run across the front clipped to the wall and on to the next property.
Bit of a grey Area to my knowledge, but worth asking the question.
In reality though I'd suspect you are only talking a matter of pennies per year.0
