Windows Movie Maker - Segments going black

I'm editing a video on Movie Maker. All the videos show when I add them, and I can edit them and move them about. But over the couple of weeks I've been making them, some of them have been going black. So one segment will play normally, then suddenly it will go black, then the next segment will play fine.

I don't think it can be a compatibility issue, as it played fine numerous times before going black.

Slowly, more and more have been going black, and about 90% of them are now.

I've googled this, and a lot of people are talking about black videos, but it seems to be more when they're saved the final product. The fix they mention is to do with their graphic card, and I can't work out how to do it on mine. I have a Toshiba Satellite, and none of the usual ways are getting me into the BOIS and I've read some Satellite's removed this ability.

Does anyone have any ideas please? I'm on a time limit for this video, had almost finished and am gutted all this work might have gone to waste.
