I think it all depends on how much your DD has been using it. Mine last about a year because i have to use them every day. My mums have lasted 3 years because she uses them every three days. Offering you £30 is naughty beacause it is an offer they already have going on. If you return another old pair of GHD's or another pair of straighteners you have they will give you £30 off. My local hairdressers is doing this so really they are losing nothing. I would just get a new one. There are a good couple of pairs on EBAY for £30. Good luck

I think I'm more peeved they knew they were out of warranty so using that as info & wear & 'tear of the power cord'!!!!! The plates are still perfect but more so they want me to pay £10 to have them returned when I had to £5 pay to mail them in the 1st place.0

As a store manager of a hairdressers trade store, i will say the same as most of my customers, stay away with ghds. go to a rade store ( you dont have to be trade!) get some pro ones i.e chs, chi,or fhi, and most trade stores even without the receipt will replace them if they go wrong. We can sell GHDs but they have to be ordered in, and come as one set price, no discount for professionals - There is a reason for this!!!
Just incase anyone belives they are amazing - Their only features are they go to 230 degrees and have full ceramic plates. BUT brands do now AND others have controlable temp settings.
( sorry i, very anti ghds, were always getting them returned!)£2 Savers club £0/£150

i'm anti ghd - my nieces have been through so many pairs including 2 that set on fire as reported on watchdog. me and dd have some tresemme ones that get v hot and in my opinion are as good (they were on offer so were reasonably priced and have already lasted longer than my sisters ghds). the thing that annoys me is that they are perfectly aware of the problems with them and seem to choose to do nothing,'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

I have some tourmaline T3 straightners which I bought 3/4 years ago now. I chose them over the ceramic ones as they were supposed to be better for reducing static. At the time they also had more options than ghd as you can change the heat to suit differing hair types..not sure if ghd have now added this on.
Might be worth investing in some of them, I know when I stay at my siters she always uses mine over her ghd's.Make £5 per day in August= £100/£155
Paid MS- £5+ £10 GR, £5 RE, £15 MS
£65 ebay profit
Waiting on payment- E160 BAI

I shall show this thread to my DD & see if I can sway her away from GHDs. She does swear they are the best for her hair & I have chepo chs ones from a Sallys store & they don't work as well for her.
Thanks for all your replies0
