I've had the IOS9 beta on my 4s & mini iPad for the last month and they've been hugely improved after the awfulness of iOS8. Only 1.1gb instead of 4 to update as well. No crashes, lost texts or contacts.
Methinks the OP is scaremongering:/Noli nothis permittere te terere

No problems for me either. My 6 plus and iPad Air (1st edition) are both running fine. Very happy with iOS 9.0

Maybe it's because she lost in the EU about her unique shape.0

Upgraded a 5, 5S and a 6 plus here, no problems.
Literally millions of iPhones and iPads got upgraded in a couple of days.
Nobody rang the helpdesk to say it all went fine so the calls that you do get probably do make it seem like the world is ending.
The "faulty iOS update" stories are just click-bait to sell ads at this time of year in my opinion.0 -
Updating over the air via wifi makes the update process more reliable but makes the software slightly less reliable as it's not a clean install but a patch.
Updating via iTunes on a PC makes the update process much more risky but makes the software more reliable as it's a clean install.
I did the latter. If you succeed with the latter, you will encounter fewer problems in the long run.0 -
