Benefit of Miracoil mattress over memory foam

Dear all,

I am used to traditional types of mattresses, spring, miracoil etc. I don't know the difference between Memory foam and traditional types of mattresses.

Any help to , help me decide one over the other most appreciated.

Mattresses are a very personal choice so it's impossible for someone else to tell you which one would suit you.

It's also impossible to lie on one in a shop and know it will be comfortable for a whole night. However it's accepted that memory tend to be hotter - you will sweat more on hot nights with them.

I like a firm mattress and mine has a memory foam top layer (built in) but traditional sprung underneath.

What I would say is that you spend up to 1/3 of your life on your mattress so it's worth spending some money on.

In our experience if you lay down & go to sleep immediately (the wife) memory foam is fine. If you toss & turn a lot (that's me) it's awful, it's like trying to roll over in a ditch, but not as wet (usually).
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

I bet not many people knew these differences it is not a question of cost but if I buy one or the other then as you stated 'most of your life is spent in it. I know it is easier for the supplier to send memory foam beds but I had my doubts and concern about the comfort aspect. Thank you very much for very honest opinions.

If you have a Bensons for beds store with a comfort station you can testout what is right for you.

We have a layer of memory foam over coils. Definitely won't have the foam next time, it's way too hot and I feel the cold. The mattress is heavy and hard to turn. You can't turn them over either, only one side is usable.

Sprung mattresses can be a minefield when looking for the right tension so a foam topper can be a good compromise

Tempur mattresses have a reputation for being hot and hard to turn Over in, however I have heard good things about mammoth foam beds. We recommend them in work to people who are HOT sleepers. Have yet to have one complaint!
