Gel/creme eye liners in pot

I'm using the doll 10 eye liner in a pot, chocolate brown colour, it's nice.
I've tried the cheap maybeline version & the expensive markup at attilier, don't think much of either, they both smudge, I can smudge almost ANY eye makeup.
I want a good black one, super long lasting. Was wondering about Bobbi Brown or the Mac one, or any other suggestions?
Not pencils, I hate them. They don't last. I have used liquid, but I do like the gel/creme & brush application.

I love the Bobbi Brown gel liner, I've not found any other type to work as well, either they dry on and feel tight and irritating or they do that transfer thing where your eyelids are covered.
If you are unsure, try asking them to apply the gel liner at a counter then wear it all day and see if anything transfers- it doesn't do for me. If you can't find a potted gel liner that works, the felt tip type liners tend to be better at drying and not transferring though again there are some that also buck that trend too.
If you apply a translucent powder over your eye lids first, you may find things transfer less but if you do want to fork out for the Bobbi Brown type I would say test it first, for me there isn't one which works better for me but that doesn't mean it's the same for everyone.0 -
Thank you Jennie
I keep looking at Bobbi Brown - but some reviews say it smudges. So I wondered should I be looking at something else.
I do find Doll 10 quite good - I have their brown.
I wondered if there was something better.
I wondered if someone would recommend Tarte.0 -
If your after reviews, have you checked out MakeupAlley? It's a US site but many reviews are UK based people writing in though you need to bare in mind, L'Oreal is a lot more expensive over there so out cheap is not their cheap and vice-versa. But there are quite a few reviews on the site and I don't know of anywhere else which offers as much reliability across brands and products.0

I had the same experience with the L'Oreal one, awful smudges! I've gone back to my MAC Fluidline. It's more expensive but lasts quite a while and it never smudges

I have several from Bobbi Brown (black mauve shimmer, chocolate shimmer and caviar) I find them all easy to apply, last all day and I've not had any smudging. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

Funnily enough I was looking at gel liners lately and visited the Bobbi Brown counter in Selfridges on Thursday as that's supposedly the best of the lot. The girl tried some on me - both the standard black and Espresso which is supposed to be a bit more browny but not hugely different. Anyway, when I got home I noticed there was a smudge on the left so don't think it's non-smudgy as made out especially since that was with a pro applying it, rather than me.0

Dear daughter says the problem is the B Brown pots dry out really quickly.
Maybe just her....0 -
