How do I pay off overdraft after switching?

Overdrafts never get transferred. You have to make you own arrangements to settle the overdraft on the old account. The advice on how to do that you got from Barclays is obviously daft. Raise a complaint with them. http://www.barclays.co.uk/ContactUs/Barclayshowtocomplain/P1242558122337.
Make sure they don't charge you for using the overdraft after you contacted them to ask how to settle it.
an overdraft wont be transferred, as the set up of one isn't part of the process, but if you've arranged an overdraft as part of opening your account, then you can request that the existing overdraft is paid off, the bank will simply transfer funds, so the account is settled and closed as part of the whole switching process, if not the old account gets closed once you've settled the balance.0 -
I have never heard of an overdraft transfer offer.
Not that I had any need for an overdraft transfer, but the terms of all the CASS offers I have completed to date made it clear that any overdraft balance would not be transferred. I can't recall any offer for the transfer of an overdraft balance but may be that's because I ticked some box saying I don't want an overdraft.
Did anyone ever have any switch offer that offered the transfer of an outstanding overdraft balance, and/or of an overdraft balance? If so, did they use it, and what happened?0 -

its not so much that an overdraft will be transferred, but if you have an overdraft arranged on the new account, many banks offer to settle the old overdraft by a transfer of funds as part of the switching process.
Just as an example RBS switching forms has the box to authorise it at the bottom of page one
