Recently we discovered a family sibling has been helping himself to mothers bank accounts both previous and after her death.

The pension company would not have known or been able to tell that the account number supplied to them didn't belong to your mother - a bank transfer is done on the basis of the sort code and account number alone. You can transfer some money to a friend and put their name as "Mickey Mouse" and it will transfer through just fine (with the exception of things like international payments, where there is often manual checking).
The fault unfortunately lies with your sh*tbag sibling.urs sinserly,

Why are you so obsessed with the pension?... although the pension company were advised of her death they have continued to pay each month. ... As we didn't know where the money was being paid into we could not repay the pension co, ....is it an offence to lie to the pension company saying the bank account was in mothers name when in fact it wasn't? Also if the account was originally in mothers name could he have with her permission had her name taken off and his added?
It's the pension company's problem, not yours.0 -
I personally think its best to keep the details of the case to yourself and get your answers from the solicitor. Good luck.0
