esure car insurance

Hi all

Wondering if it is only me who thinks esure are wrong.

Had car accident 6 months ago. Someone reversed into my car at some speed. He initially stopped but then drove off 2 minutes later . I recorded the other driver on my phone admiting he hit me because the van infront of him was reversing and was gona hit him.we called police and insurance and I requested for my car repair to be done after claim sorted as it was small damage and didnt want to pay excess of £350. I have over 10 years no claim discount. Initially esure didnt want to see my video evidence but 3weeks later the other driver have claimed for injuries and told them i hit him. So esure asked me if i have the video which i did and sent it. During the 6 months not 1 call or letter from esure. I had to keep chassing them. Credit to police they sent me letter saying they have sufficient evidence to prosecute the other party. I passed that to esure and still nothing from them. So now 6 months later they have closed case and reinstated my no claims bonus? What about my claim i asked, their response because damage is less than excess they not dealing with it. So esure/sheilas wheels not fighting my case due to excess being higher than potential damage to car. Is that correct? Thanks

It is correct as your excess isn't covered by your insurance.

However if you have "legal cover" with your policy, then that is designed to recover your uninsured losses so you can use that to deal with the third party insurer for you.

Otherwise you will have to chase the third party yourself to pay for your repairs
  • Thanks for reply quentin. They said exactly what u said. Another thing i forgot to mention is that i must put that i had a non fault claim on future insurance searches. Would that be correct also?

    Yes.

Once you report any incident/loss even if you don't end up making a claim it goes on your record (and is put on the shared database) meaning you usually will need to disclose it on future applications.

Next time don't inform your insurer unless you are sure that you want to make a claim (or if to blame that there will be a claim against you), and certainly not if the repairs will cost less than your excess.
  • Thanks. I have instructed solicitor. My other option was to pay excess and let insurance deal with it.
