Send them an invoice with your travel expenses ie. mileage and parking.

Let us all know how it goes.
  • Why do so many people claim this new fangled 'stress' these days. It's a wooly word which doesn't mean anything. What you actually mean is 'inconvenience'.

An example of stress is being locked down in a firefight with an enemy threatening your life and limb!

It's not stress. Why don't people have any backbone these days?

Right, so now I know. Thanks to those who've made useful comments and a big raspberry to the others. It seems that its worthwhile making a claim to the store manager or the head honcho, but going any further and taking it through the courts etc is likely to leave me out of pocket.
Would that be because it's not what you want to hear?

You have no case for anything other than the petrol money. The courts will not even award you costs for such a trivial claim and scald you for even trying to bring it to court. Getting a refund from a store who put up no fight whatsoever would have been a stress free process, you not being able to handle driving into town is your problem no one else is to blame for that.

I'd be interested to see how you arrived at the figure of £100 for travel costs over two trips to the shops and back, that seems very excessive.

Wow, must be expensive in the city. Every shopping trip costs £50 for starters. The sad bit is that the OP is actually for real.

    Hands up who believes that?
