If you have evidence to back up your suggestion that Conveyancing solicitors are moving toward working part time, I'd be very interested to see it (as a full time conveyancing solicitor who has seen no indication of this). Otherwise I'm going to agree with the previous poster that this is just scaremongering nonsense.

As someone who speaks to c)1600 home movers a year and receives their moans and complaints directly...

And as someone who talks to 3 or 4 conveyancing solicitors a week, 2 of whom recently have been moaning to high heaven about it..

And as somebody who spoke to the owner of an estate agency who has c)500 sales per year, who too is moaning is socks off about it....

and lastly, as somebody who was on the receiving end of a conveyancing solicitor who said, the following sentence - 'I only work Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, so she won't be completing on a Thursday, and that's the end of it.'...

I will say that it isn't scaremongering. Moreover if anyone, in any profession wishes to work part-time then so what?

But, right now, and this year I can reference an awful lot of instances that have been affected / caused by exactly this.

That you work proper hours, great, just like the friends I have that are conveyancers, and conveyancing solicitors.

But just because this isn't an issue for you / where you are, it doesn't mean it isn't elsewhere.

Scaremongering it isn't. Exactly what 'panic' do you think could possibly be caused?

Are you aware this issue was raised with the VP of the Law Society, the Property Ombudsman, and Chairman of the CA at Silverstone during a debate last year?

So far we've got no where, I have a very unconcerned solicitor who seems happy to just wait and not do much chasing or apply much pressure on the sellers solicitor.

Your problem not the solicitors. What do you expect the sellers solicitor to do to apply pressure either.

The onus is on you to speak with the vendor either directly or through the EA. You are the one buying. You are the one that needs to make decisions. There's no one to pass the buck too.

So no independent evidence or statistics then, just "someone told me this and then I put it on my blog and now it must be true".

While you are welcome to set out your prejudices against solicitors on MSE, posting links to your company's blog is against forum rules.
